Made a MISTAKE!!!!

I had a little too much to drink three days ago with a new lady friend that told me that she had genitals herpes. She told me that she was not having an outbreak and we decided to have sex that night. I used a condom and also kept my underwear on just to add extra protection if that makes any sense. We decided to have a second round and this time I had my jeans on and just unzip my zipper. I know this sound crazy and if I was so scared why would I still do it but I was just not in my right mind that night. The next morning I work up like WTF did I just do. I ask her was she sure if she didn't have an OB recently and she told me she have not and she knows when she is going to have a outbreak because she would have bad leg pains and she would talk her medicine around that time.

I started to try to replay that night in my mind and I remember that I only seen a small space between the condom and my cloths and one of my fingers had some of her fluid on it from touching my underwear. I remember after both episodes I washed my hands and penis off with some dish soap.

The day after the encounter I had an upset stomach and back pains but I know symptoms can't happen that soon, correct? There were initiation on the staff of my penis the next day also but I thought it could be because rubbing on my zipper. I also put my finger that touched her fluid in my mouth two days later and the next day after my lips felt like it's tingling now.

My questions:

What are the chances of catching herpes with all my precautions?

What is the TRUE time frame of noticing symptoms?

Could I really catch herpes by putting the same finger that her fluid touch in my mouth two days later or put my kids at risk by touching them with that finger?

Thanks allot and I'm looking forward to hearing from Grace.

if you and this partner had sex regularly for an entire year and only avoided sex whenever she had anything going on genitally, you'd be 96% likely each year NOT to contract hsv2 from her. if she also takes daily suppressive therapy and you use condoms, you are on average 99% likely each year NOT to contract hsv2 from her. very low odds over all.

have you ever been tested for herpes before to know your own status?

also never wash your genitals off with dish soap!! it's designed for dish washing, not your delicate genital skin!  also you can't wash std's off your skin - they are transmitted during the sex act itself, they don't lay on the skin and work their way into the body over time.

be seen for the back pain. make sure you aren't spending too much time sitting in front of a computer searching the web for std info too.

I will ask them to give me the igg test, thanks. I just keep reading about lower back pains are a symptoms of an outbreak and my lower back is getting worst and I can't explain why. I know that my risk is low but just for I can be more educated about the virus, would a person have lower back pain before a outbreak or during.

I want to thank you so much for all your help because the stigma the goes behind this virus make it hard to talk to someone and get real information without going to a doctor.

Thanks again

you want a type specific herpes igg blood test. sounds like the provider you talked to was more familiar with the outdated non-type specific testing which isn't what you want.

really no reason to think you contracted hsv2. I wouldn't even be checking your genital area.

You are the best Grace, I have not taking a test for herpes recently but when I asked my doctor ( VA clinic ) if they could give me a test. I was told since I had the chicken pox it was no reason to have one because it will come back a fake positive. What type of test should I ask for to make sure I don't have it already?

Thanks for the giving me the chances of me catching hsv2 but if I was to contract the virus would I be showing signs in four day if I was to ever show any sign or do I really need to give it 20 days like I have been reading on other sites? I do have some irritation down there but nothing serious so I'm thinking it is all in my mind but only a test and time will tell I guess...

Thank you so much for replying.

I still would like to stay friends with the lady and see where it goes from there but no more sex until I'm sure she is worth the risk. I'm assuming the whole finger touching my mouth is okay also?

Thanks again to everyone that responded

you wouldn't have symptoms of herpes the next day.

your risk of contracting hsv2 from two protected encounters is incredibly low. unless there is another partner to protect, we don't even recommend testing from this.

do you plan on continuing to see this partner?
