Confused about herpes outbreak

I have had herpes for a long time. At least 10 years. Most of the time my outbreaks have been infrequent, but similar to a hemmoroid as far as area and symptoms. I had sex with my husband on Friday and noticed the itchy feeling that usually happens before an outbreak. I also had sex on Saturday, this time it hurt while we had sex. I started taking 500mg of Valtrex 2x a day on Sunday and am now on my 5th day. I haven’t had sex since, but I am in crazy pain! It looks like I have bumps inside my vagina and the outside area is extremely red. My doctor called in a prescription for me to take Valtrex daily from now on to prevent outbreaks (they have been infrequent enough that I didn’t take daily), but am supposed to take 2x a day for 5 days. When is this going to get better?!? Is it possible that I need something else besides Valtrex to clear it up? I don’t think I’ve had a vaginal outbreak like this ever. Help!

Hi people with long time genital hsv2 only have outbreaks on one side of the body so if your having on both it maynot be herpes but some kind of yeast infection.

What do you mean by one side of the body?
either on the right side of the vagina or the left side and outbreaks almost always in the same spot as prefer the east nerve to get back to the surface.
