Moms with HSV 2

I am a relatively new mom and am paranoid about passing this virus on to my child through diapering.  Every time I see a diaper rash, I think that I have given her herpes.  I am getting better at calming my fears but this morning she woke up with a red area on her left labia - it looks like a pimple.  Most of the diaper rashes she gets are all over and bilateral and very noticeably a diaper rash.  This area looks like a pimple or possibly a clogged pore but has not changed since this morning.  I am very diligent about washing my hands.  There was an incident a few months back where I may have directly touched a lesion while I was sleeping and forgot to wash my hands before diapering.  I accidentally touched her skin in the vaginal area while wiping.  This was 9 weeks ago and she has had no questionable areas since then - just this one.  I know the chances are very rare but this "rash" is making me sick with worry.  I hate taking her to the doctor for this because I think they think I am crazy but I need to put my fears to rest.  Any advice?

Thank you Grace.  I am expecting another child very shortly and would like to be happy and stop worrying about this disease.  I am working on it with a therapist but I still have a long ways to go.

you will not transmit your genital herpes to your baby. we do not have that sort of contact with our children.

diaper rashes are very common babies.   Best when she has one not to use commercial baby wipes - use plain water to cleanse her bottom with instead.  Even the sensitive forumations are still loaded with chemicals.

This is not herpes going on I can assure you.
