My blood test result for Herpes

i traveled on Dec 2013 and when i came back , there was some red spots on my lips but it does not make any pain

i went to docotr and he told me that it is herpes and he gave me zovirax cream and Famvir

after 1 month docotor told me to stop the cream and keep taking the Famvir

So, i requested the docotor to do for me the Herpes blood test to be sure that i have the herpes

when they took my blood for test , i was taking the Famvir.

i received the result and all were negative ( IgG & IgM ) for HSV1 & HSV2

and i just have a simple questions about the results .

does it mean that i am free of herpes ?

also, Is it Possible that it may come positive without any cause ?

and Does Famvir affect on the results ?

Hi, taking antivirals would not make a positive into a negative. Since you show negative now it could be assumed that its a recent infection or you dont have herpes at all. The only way to know if you have oral herpes at this point, is to have a swab of a new lip sore within 48 hours after appearing or to stop taking the antivirals and reblood test in 3 months.
From what you describe about the lip sores, it does not appear it was herpes as they are open lip sores not red marks.
