Unclear diagnosis for my partner and I

So this scary situation began last weekend with a night of sex with my friend and on again/off again partner (both oral and regular, unprotected). We were both sore the next day, and I developed a UTI and was placed on antibiotics by Wednesday. I got a bump on the outter part of my genitals near my thigh on Thursday. I went straight to the doctor on Friday to have it looked at. He said it was irritation from friction or razor burn. I also had him send out blood and urine for every test on the books. I usually get tested every 6 months and I was due for screening. I woke up Saturday with itchyness and dryness, plus 3 more bumps that looked like water blisters. I was overall itchy and uncomfortable but no real pain. It only hurt when I walked. My partner called me that night to inform me he had a rash. By Sunday there were a few more of the water blisters (2) on the other side. I went back to the clinic and the doctor once again said it didn't look like herpes- but like irritation or warts, and gave me a referral for a gynocologist. My partner simultaneously went to a clinic on Sunday and was told it looked like herpes and they gave him a full STD screening.

Sunday night we exchanged images of our rashes and they didn't look similar. Mine were water blisters and his looked like raised thin white Inner tubes.

Monday there was not much change for me except for discomfort like pinching when I walked. I also had a fever and runny nose witha cough. I went to my regular doctor, where I recalled having HZV as a kid, but never delevoped a rash. It made my gums burst and I couldn't swallow without pain. All images of the shingles rash that I have seen online match what I have. She diagnosed me with a shingles outbreak and a viral respiratory infection. She put me on valtrex and Augmentin. She told me my rash didn't look or behave like herpes.

Tuesday I received all of my STD tests back. All were negative except for HSV-1 at a 27.4 index, which my doctor said is quite normal and we all get as kids. My partner also received his test results back and all were negative, even his HSV-1. However his doctor still told him it looked like herpes and took a swab of it.

I then went back to the clinic doctors AGAIN to have him walk me through my test results. He assured me I didn't need to have my rash swabbed and that I did not have an STD, just the HSV-1 that I probably had as a child, and the valtrex would help (I now have a small cut/irritation on the corner of my mouth). He told me to go home and stop worrying. He assured me that the tests I went through were too sensitive to give a false negative.

So, after my long explanation, I am just confused.

-How could my partner and I have 2 very different diagnosis, with similar (but not identical) symptoms? My doctors trips seem positive while his are all doom and gloom.
-When I was diagnosed with HZV, could it have in fact been HSV-1, and been dormant for this long?
-If so, and I already had it orally, could I still contract it genitally?
-Is it possible for me to have given my partner HSV-1 from my oral to his genitals, and it just hasn't had time to come up on the test?
- is it possible to pass HSV-1 back and forth genitally?

Sorry for the long post and many questions. Any advice is so appreciated. I haven't been able to sleep and I have just been freaking out for an entire week. His doctor said it will take weeks to get the culture back, and that he doesn't need to retake his negative blood test. None of my doctors told me to retest at a later date. Please help! I don't want to stay panicked for months, by I also don't want to ignore this and put anyone at risk. I am shocked at how non-chalant these doctors (7 in total!!!) have acted in this situation. I'm hoping that I can get some experienced and empathetic answers.

Thanks you!!!!!!

If any lesions haven't opened up pr are open then the test should've been fine.

Thank you. What do they look like when they open? At all like small white cheerio shaped bumps?

If this is a new infection you would not test positive by blood. Igg bloodtests look for antibodies the bidy makes to combat the virus. Not the virus itself. Your dr should've swabbed your water blister lesions to be sure. All you can do is wait to see your friends results and go from there.

Thank you so much for your response. This was MULTIPLE doctors too. A total of 5 saw my rash.  However- I heard that after 48 hours the swab test is not accurate?
