herpeselect results

i was just wondering, i recently had a herpeselect test come back positive. The results were type specific for 1 and 2 and it was IgG. Both were positive I might add. i have been doing some research because I am not convinced that I have herpes and I know cut offs for false positive are 3.5 but I was wondering if pregnancy has anything to do with results having a false positive.

your partner will need tested to see what his status is too.

if your hsv2 igg is less than 5, it's well worth confirmatory testing since you've had no symptoms. this needs done within the next 2 months - once you hit your 3rd trimester, the odds of a false negative, even with a herpes WB, increase dramatically.

btw congrats on your pregnancy!!!

I do not know what the exact results were, but my ob says they are the same number, IgG on both hsv 1 & 2. He said both numbers were over the 3.5 mark, but I was too afraid to ask for specific numbers or a copy of my results. Yes, I am pregnant now and that is why I wanted these tests std panel done. That is why I am not convinced that the HSV 2 is correct no matter how high the number is. I KNOW I have had hsv1 ever since I can remember and that is not something that surprised me. My ob said, " the results are positive for herpes", and I just assumed it was just the hsv 1, so acting like I knew, I said, "oh yes the hsv 1" I did so because he acted not surprised, but he replied "no, the hsv 2 also".  He went on to say, "the results are both over 3.5 wich is high and they are the same result." just thinking aloud, if the results are the same in number value could it not be the HSV1 history tweaking my results? plus a few ddays after my blood draw i had an hsv1 flare up. I am 16 weeks and and 5 days along right now, at the time of my blood draw i was 12 weeks. Yes I do have a steady partner at this time. We have been together for 5 years, with the exeption of a break up for about 5 months. I have had a total of 7 sexual partners from the time I was 13. Like I mentioned, I "dont get around" and I have never had any symptoms of hsv2. I just wonder if I should go with my gut and get a wb or if I should just stick with positive?

do you know what your test results were - e.g. hsv1 igg 4.9 and hsv2 igg 2.2 or whatever they were?

are you pregnant? if so, how far along?

do you have a regular partner?

I have also been reading that any positive result through herpeselect and no symptoms should be followed up by a wb. I just want to make sure I am not leaving anything out. I feel pretty confident that I do not have herpes and I have just been drowning myself in information and spinning my head out of control. I have never had any symptoms of herpes but recently found out I was expecting and because of this I wanted to make sure that any prior sexual encounters I have had have not outstayed their welcome. I have not had several sexual partners and I have been sexually active for roughly 17 yrs. I have know about my hsv 1 for years and years and so I dont want to assume that hsv is going to be part of my life if it doesnt have to be.
