Hello,
I don't know what to do  - I cannot get an answer anywhere. Please help.
I have had hsv2 for 4 years now with maybe 3 obs a year, very minor and would take valtrex periodically when I started feeling prodrome symptoms.
Now, I had an ob one month ago which went away after 4 days but I have since been having prodromal symptoms for an entire month.  Tingling, quick shooting pains and light discharge with minor backache. also urinary frequency..it will not stop even though I am taking valtrex.  I initially thought I had a uti but took 2 diff antibiotics and no relief from symptoms.
I know what prodrome symptoms are and always the same in 4 years.  Please tell me why these symptoms wont stop! What do I do, I am miserable for a month.  Am I contagious even though no ob, just symptoms? Everybody says prodrome or ob doesnt last this long but I know my body and what I am feeling.

so many things that can cause these symptoms in us gals. you need to continue to go back and be seen regularly to try to figure out what is going on. they need to be properly testing you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too each time you go.   also sometimes these symptoms are from hormonal imbalances too, not any infections. Unfortunately it sometimes can take awhile to figure out what is going on :(

Female. No partner in 2 years.  Had 2 UTI tests that came back negative and used Monistat recently which seemed to help.  Everyone keeps saying I would not have these symptoms but yet I am having them...maybe I have a different infection like cystitis or yeast that is making the herpes act up? I know for sure these are prodromal-type symptoms and my concern was whether or not I am contagious while the symptoms are occurring even though no new outbreak.  Also, does it seem likely that prodrome symptoms are a result of an underlying infection or weakened immune system?

are you male or female?

you wouldn't have symptoms from herpes this long like this with a recurrence.

what sort of work up have you been through so far?

do you have a regular partner?
