Oral Herpes - Fear

Hi, I'm under a immense fear that I have an Herpese virus from a stranger I met this stranger on saturday and she only only kissed my mouth, which involved tounge sucking, that was the only encounter I had with her and from Monday afternoon I feel tired, body ache, dry mouth (dehydrated) and feverish.

Please advsie, is this the symptom of having Herpese (HSV1), if not can you please let me know what are the symtoms of Herpes, and after how many days of encounter you get the virus activated .

Thanks in advance,

We advised you it wasn't worth testing for any std in the first place.  Please do not continue wasting our time here since obviously what we say doesn't mean squat to you anyways.

Aj/Grace - Sorry to get back to you again,

Grace told me not to test for any STD's for my above two mentioned expousers, but for my mental reassurance I just had have done the whole STD panel done and fortunately all the test results were negative and also HSV1 and HSV2 were negative too (My doctor as to do the repeat as he observed there was some error as it showed Igm 1.13 but HSV1 was neagative with numeric results 0.31 which is < 0.9 and it was negative).

So my question was do you want me to advise to retest for herpes again to make sure I don't have it? if so after how many weeks/months after the expouser which is only kissing?

Please advise this will be my last question to you..

Thanks a million in advance

Also, I have an urge for urinating and it has mild burning sensation when I urinate?

Do you think it is sign of Gonherea or some thing else?

If so do you think it will infect my wife? I'm very much concerned about my wife?

Please help.

Aj - Thanks for your support.Sorry I have too many questions for you all...

I had one more encounter last year which I have explained above i.e I received the oral sex, Kissing and unprotected blow job with an escort and as per Dr.HHH I also did get tested for HIV after 21 days and was negative.

I feel the buring sensatino while urinating since from yesterday,do you see any reason for this but after reviewing Dr.HHH If I don't see any symptoms based on his timing I sholdn't worry, but I'd like to bring to your notice for past one week I have gone through immense stress...please please help...I'd like take the STD panel done to make sure I don't have any other STD's, can you advise in Orange county,CA is there a place where I can go and get the STD panel done who will give me instant results?

Also, My doctor has given me an appointment for next, do you see I should take any medication for HSV-1, So far I don't any see any cold sores on my lips just feel tierdness and feverish.

HSV-1 is just oral or will I get genital also.

Is there any handbook about HSV-1 so that I can read and be preapred?

Below is the post I picked from STD forum from Dr.HHH

First, relax.  Your original perception is more accurate than what you found by searching online.  By and large, oral sex is safe sex, especially in regard to HIV. For all other STDs, oral sex is much less efficient as a route of transmission than vaginal or anal sex.  These issues have been discussed frequently on this forum; with a little searching you can find a lot of information that should be quite reassuring.

To the direct questions:

1) There is a small but real risk of gonorrhea, herpes (due to HSV-1), and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU).  There is a theoretical risk of syphilis, but that STD is so rare in heterosexual women in the US that it's really not an issue.  There is no risk for chlamydia, which rarely infects the mouth and throat and therefore is not transmitted by oral sex.  As noted above, no practical risk for HIV, no more than one chance for 10-20,000 exposures, if the oral partner is infected.

2) See any STD-knowledgeable health care provider.  If you're not confident in the knowledge of your personal provider, visit your local health department STD clinic for expert, highly confidential, and low cost (perhaps free) care.  Don't go in asking for specific tests; accept the provider's judgment about what tests should be done.

3) Timing of symptoms varies from typically 2-5 days for gonorrhea, 3-10 days for herpes, 7-14 days for NGU, and 2-3 weeks for syphilis, That said, most STDs from oral sex cause symptoms; if no symptoms appear, you really don't need test at all, except for psychological reassurance.  The main symptoms to watch for are abnormal discharge from the penis (gonorrhea, NGU) or penile blisters or sores (herpes, syphilis).

4) For the reasons above, the chance you caught anything is low, but of course I cannot guarantee you aren't infected.  To be maximally safe, it is best to avoid sex with your wife for the next 2-3 weeks.  If you do have sex with her, of course condoms would markedly reduce the already low risk to her.

5) The near-zero risk for HIV from oral sex includes the fact that lots of people have oral lesions.  You really have no serious HIV concerns here, and anyway in most areas of the US, HIV is rare in commercial sex workers.  But for absolute reassurance, feel free to have an HIV test in about 6 weeks.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD

I see no reason to test for hsv2.

And I see no reason to test for stds, if all you did was kiss.

So it looks like you have hsv1.  You've probably had that for years, and didn't know it.  You wouldn't have tested positive so fast after that encounter.

I actually don't advise getting any std testing at all done from these 2 encounters.  Both are very, very low risk and it's just not worth the time or money to get it done.

I do advise using condoms even for receiving oral sex if you plan on having sexual contact with others outside of your marriage. I think your wife deserves that even if it is an open marriage type situation ( you didn't say it is but I assume it isn't ).

Grace/Jess - Thanks a million for all your inputs and time, I had one more last question before I get back to you with results,do you suggest me to take the whole STD panel test for my two encounters which I have mentioned in my previous posts or just get back to you with my Herpes results? please advise.

I'm extremly sorry for too many questions...Hope you understand my situation.

You kissed a girl - the guilt you are having over that is far more of an issue than your risk of oral herpes.

You have already received terrific help here from Jess - no reason to keep looking for reassurance several times a day. It just takes away time from folks who have new questions how are looking for help too.  Please keep that in mind.

If you need help with your lab test results when you get them we will gladly help you with them.  Please write down the numeric results of them - ie hsv1 igg 4. 8 and hsv2 igg .45 and post them here in this same post. It just makes it easier for us to respond when we have the full background of your 'story' in front of us :)

These are the only above two incidents I had in my life.

But I have  tested for HIV in december and the results were negative.

Are there any place on weekends, where I can get the whole STD panel done...:(

Its not herpes.  I dont' know what it is, though, and can't make that diagnosis.  Your doctor doesn't seem to think its herpes, so I have to agree with him.

You are starting to become obsessed with this, and as we see on these forums constantly, my guess is that guilt is the main reason for this.  If you need to work through that, then you need to seek some help.  Obsessing about herpes isn't healthy, or productive.

Aj-
One more day for results of my blood work
I'm still undergoing stress due to guilt and
a fear of infecting my wife If I have herpes.

I'm taking some meds like Airborne,vitamin c 1000 mg
to boost my immune system and also Tylenol extra strong. And this is my 8th day, do you think this might be the reason I don't have any outbreak till now?

Also, I'd like discuss this symptom I observed next day morning after I
Kissed the stranger, inside my mouth I felt like a white layer it was sticky
was this a yeast I don't know but it was different? and it was there that morning only
Do you know what is this? is this symptom of me infected with Herpes?

Please please advise.

If she had no outbreak, your chances are low for getting herpes from her.

And no, there is no cure for it.

Has your doctor seen all of these symptoms?  You should get it checked out if he hasn't.
