Test Results

Have two small red bumps on the side of the head of my penis (I'll say at the lip, for lack of better terminology) followed by a slight rash on the tip of the penis. The bumps are painless and the rash has seemed to get better after I was given some Elocon. As far as the two small bumps, however, I've been to 3 diff docs, each saying it was nothing to worry about after visual inspection. Normally, I would be relieved, but I need some concrete proof and asked for extensive blood work to be certain.

Test results for everything came back neg. except for HSV 1 - I knew that, I've had a fever blister on my mouth before. HSV 2 HgG came back as "<.91" - normal range of "0 - .9". Note on the tests said I had been exposed to HSV 2. I'm headed back to the doc to figure it out, as other sites I read say <.91 is a negative, but I am hoping to get a little info from someone with knowledge until then. First noticed the bumps mid- to late-May. Last sexual encounter was some "hands stuff" with a female friend February 2nd.

Hi, my long term partner of 5 years just found out she has hsv1 on her gentils.  (she never knew she had it)  I took a blood test and was negative for both hsv1 and hsv2.  Pretty amazing since we have had a lot of unprotected sex in those 5 years.    So now what?  I've read the posts here, and seems like transmission is low... but still possible..... What is the recommended timeframe to NOT have sex after her outbreak is finished?  Basically she had a very unpleasant outbreak, it healed, and now there is no physical signs "downthere".... but should we wait a couple of weeks?, months?? before we engage in sex again???  Thanks, the website is very useful.

you wouldn't still have symptoms of herpes going on at this point.

your hsv2 is negative. you do'nt need further testing done.
