Well of course they wouldn't be experts on oral herpes, they are OB/GYNs! And, oral herpes is not an STD. Your had no risk from getting your partners genital herpes from the exposure you had, plain and simple. Kissing can transmit oral HSV1, and many of us get it in childhood from that smooch from Grandma. So if you have oral symptoms, it may not even be herpes... and if it is, it's not an STD! More than 1/2 the adult population has it, and most of us won't make it to the old folks home without it.
Ok. So I went to my obgyn, thinking they would be the experts on this. The doc says it does not look like an oral herpe, and that I would be better off going to dentist for accurate diagnosis. I asked her if she would test me, and said it would be like opening up a can of worms. She truly didnt believe it was a herpe, which made me feel about 50% better, so I jave made a dentist appt for monday. We will see what dentist says.
Good luck, keep us posted.
Thats what I was hoping. They dont look like herpes but im sure it is given the recent cintacy. Will make appt to get blood drawn
Sorry to hear that the doc thinks it's herpes. What exactly did he say? The only way to know for sure is to get a positive swab, so there may be some hope yet....it could be canker sores?
He says it is. Although he didnt swab. He says its type one, but I am pretty sure its type 2. Going to go have a talk with obgyn....he can do all the testing.
Hope doc agrees to swab it to test for herpes!
Thanks. I am full of anxiety as I now have big bumps in my mouth. At the doc now. Will keep you informed of what they say. I have read too many different experiences. I have to know.
Hsv2 is usually genitally. Hsv2 orally is really rare.
Grace thank you. Is it likely he has it orally and genitally
it's most helpful when you keep adding to your original post instead of making new ones. we ask this in our read before posting post on the forum.
no, you aren't going to get oral hsv2 from kissing someone who has it genitally.
