Waiting for test results

On Wednesday, I was a little itchy "down there" and when I felt it, I noticed a couple of bumps.  The next day, up and down the outer lips of my vagina, I had exploded into a rash and was itching like crazy!  I tried to ignore it (call it denial) and finally today I couldn't take it anymore.  Since it's Saturday, my regular doctor was closed and so I went to Planned Parenthood.

Once there the doctor took a look and said "Well Herpes is definitely something we need to consider here because it does look like it".  They took a blood test but were unable to swab because there is no lab pick up on Saturdays.  I asked how sure she was from the visual and she said 70%.  It could be an allergic reaction to something she said.  After a minute and I calmed down I said "listen can we at least do something for the itching because I can't take it anymore".  She was kind of surprised and asked if the itching was all that was bothering me, and wanted to know about the pain.  I told her I wasn't in any pain whatsoever, I just itched.  She said that was highly unusual for herpes as it was very painful and if there was any itching with a herpes case, it was usually minimal and certainly not the prominent symptom.  She even had me lay back down and pressed on the rash with a swab and asked if it hurt.  It didn't at all, it just made me want to scratch more!

Does anyone here have herpes or know anything about it?  Is it true about the itching?  Because it's going to be at least 5 days before I get that blood test back and I'd like to hear what you have to say.  It might ease my mind for the next few days while I am waiting for the test.

Did they also examine your vaginal secretions for yeast and bacterial infections too?

Last possible exposure was February 13 so I know the test may not be accurate.  In fact the doctor already said that if it comes back negative, I would absolutely need to take another test in a few months.  Last Wednesday was the first day I noticed the rash and it was almost completely gone as of yesterday.  As a precaution, she did go ahead and put me on Acyclovir, but I don't think it would have worked that fast over 2 days of being on the pills.  Furthermore, it's my understanding that a herpes outbreak does not go away that quickly (especially if this is my primary outbreak).  Am I correct on that?  What do you think?

PS - Thank you for responding.  I was worried no one had read my post!

Its not sounding like herpes, and while herpes can itch, if you had extensive symptoms like that, there probably would have been some pain.

If it is herpes, and its a new infection, your blood test will likely be negative.  When was the last time you had possible exposure?
