HIPAA laws protect your information from becoming public. If I ever told someone one of my patients had herpes, I'd lose my job. the medical system can't even acknowledge that my children have my medical insurance now that they are over 18....lol Now they send me the bills to pay but I am not allowed to ask questions about the bills...sigh.
1 out of every 4-5 people you know has genital herpes. it's incredibly common and 1 out of every 2-3 has oral herpes. it's not a big deal at all to have your regular provider order up the testing and prescribe medication if indeed you do test + for hsv2. If you prefer to not have the info on your medical record, there are other resources to utilize for testing if any are available in your area.
if you order up testing on your own and want help with the results, feel free to post them here and I'll gladly help you with them.
Thanks so much for your response. Not sure about posting in someone else post. I signed in and followed the tutorial and titled my question and there it is. Anyhow, sorry about the confusion. It is my understanding that blood tests can only be done by a lab tech. You know your response seems to suggest that this is just another standard procedure. But this is extreamly tabboo in america. Certainly misunderstood by most and I find it very humiliating to go through. I have read many blogs and have learned that there are countless case's like mine where these individuals are more scared of going to a public medical place than the illness itself. Public embarrassment is a horrible but real event. I am aware that a GP can write a scrip,but..then he knows, his staff knows and so forth. Was just looking for a "private" path to resolve this.
I do appreciate your time as I am self-employed and do a great deal of advice at my job as well. Thanks for your help.
you need to be patient as we ask in our read before posting post. also posting in someone else's post about your own concerns is hijacking which we also ask you don't do. not getting a reply in 4 hours isn't unusual.
you need to first confirm your status before you bother to get any medication. you can call your local planned parenthood to see if they offer type specific herpes igg blood testing if you have no insurance. also if you are in the US, you can order up type specific herpes igg blood testing through online testing centers like healthcheckusa or tstd. you pay out of pocket and it never goes on your medical record if that is a concern of yours.
I never, ever recommend trying to buy medications online through questionable sources. just not worth it. far easier to have your provider write you a prescription, fill it cheaply at walmart and tell folks you get cold sores a lot if they ask.
