I called to verify which test it is and it's the Biokit.  Why do they claim it works after 4 days of possible exposure?????

Hello Grace,

On the www.californiastd.com website they claim that they combine the University of Washington method of testing for HSV2.  On the website it says suconversion as early as 2 weeks.  I called and they mentioned that they can test you as early as 4 days from possible exposure.  The consultation is $20 and the test is $275.  Almost $300.  It's been a month since my last possible exposure and I would pay $300 of I can rely on it.  Does this testing period sound right?  I heard even for the UofW ou should wait 8-12 weeks.

sounds like either the biokit hsv2 igg or the new herpeselect express hsv2 ( I think they actually call it something else but I'm blanking on it right now ).  Both tests are very accurate for hsv2.

It's up to you whether you want to know your hsv1 status or not.  If you are under 70 then no indeed it isn't 90% of the population has hsv1. If you are over 40 it's about 60% of adults in the US.  Closer to 30% if you are in your early 20's.

he tested only HSV 2 and told that it is negative.

I asked about HSV 1 test and he told that 90% of population has HSV 1 so no need to worry about that.Is that corect.
