Query about herpes

So I had unprotected sex with someone who was infected but was on meds and had no visible outbreaks no sores or bumps only thing symptom I have is after I pee and empty my bladder it burns slightly nothing super painful and the shaft of my penis feels slight uncomfortable until I rub it a little not sure what this means. Thank you in advance

The key advice here to follow is take charge of obtaining full STD testing that includes all the usual bacterial ones.

Herpes just in the urethra is exceptionally rare as why wouldn't you also get sores on the penis which is far more likely entry site. It would be usual to have painful urination for about two weeks if you did have herpes lesions in your urethra.

you need a better work up than they gave you from the sounds of things. they heard herpes and decided that it must be herpes I think.

call them today to see if either are + or not. Those tests should be back.

go get the lesion culture of your symptoms if you didn't start the valtrex. It will give you the best answers.

did you pick up an otc urine pain relief medication yet? those help with painful urination and turn your urine an entertaining shade of orange too.

In that case you do not have a diagnosis for herpes and you should not be taking valtrex until you have this diagnosis. You can obtain a swab of your urethra and insist on this being tested using PCR.

If this does not identify a positive then a blood test at 12 weeks is required to be conclusive but may turn positive earlier if you were infected.

they did you a great disservice with the testing they did :(

Don't start the valtrex at this time. go and be seen elsewhere today and get a lesion culture of symptoms done.

Let me guess, you told them you  had had a partner with herpes before they diagnosed you?

They did a urine test and said that it isn't a kidney issue or bladder infection.no blood test from what I know.they still want me to get tested at the health department. They wrote me a script for valtrex

it's pretty important to know what testing was done so you can know if it's accurate or not.

what medication were you given?

Antibiotics do not treat herpes. Are you sure about the diagnosis. Was it a swab test or blood test, actually sounds like a 'visual'?

It would be exceptionally rare for this to be caused by herpes, overwhelmingly the odds are this is something else.

thanks for the reply yea i was slightly concerned because it burned when i peed but thats happened before to me when i have too much sex.i noticed last night a few very tiny bumps but they look like pimples almost or hair folicales and they dont itch or hurt.I peed this morning and it actually didnt hurt at all.my shaft was slightly irriated. She did tell me afterwards that she had a yeast infection and we did have sex while she was on her period could that cause these type of symptoms

Most likely if infected you would experience symptoms in the timeframe of 2-14 days. These would typically be lesions at the point of virus entry. If you have HSV1 already then you might have limited or unnoticeable symptoms, if not, multiple lesions that wouldn't be missed are likely to arise.
