Receiving Oral Sex with HSV 2

I was recently diagnosed with HSV 2 and wondered if my partner performs oral sex on me, will he contract HSV 2?

Concerned with sincerity!

Thanks so much Grace! I appreciate your comments.  I am by-passing the traditional drugs such a Valtrex and trying the herbal route of L-Lysine.  What I've noticed is that if I get a potential outbreak (my lips break out on my face...small little bumps that itch TERRIBLE and i got a cancer sore in my mouth.) More like my HSV 1 as I have both..but the L-Lysine seems to shorten the time of the outbreak and i only have it a few days compared to a week or more.  This is all so new to me so I'm trying to figure it all out but appreciate kindness from someone like you because it helps to sort through it all.

Warm regards!

they can contract hsv2 orally but the risk of such is very low.  if you take daily suppressive therapy, it lowers their risk no matter what the contact you have sexually with a partner.

Hi Grace,
I'm actually posing a hypothetical question.  I currently don't have a partner but am super concerned about passing it to a future mate and want to be completely informed prior to having an intimate partner.   So if the person got tested and didn't have HSV 2, if they gave me oral sex, could they get it if I don't have signs of an outbreak.  I'm confused about that situation.  I know he could get it if we had intercourse.

Thank you so much Grace. You are very helpful and knowledgeable to all.
Warm regards!

has your partner been tested to know their own status or do they know if they have hsv2 genitally?
