Recurrent Outbreaks

I have had HSV2 since 2005 although I was unaware of it until 2007....
I was diagnosed due to a very small rash on my lower back which I had cultured in 2007 and the result was HSV2  later as I tried to work out how this could be since I'd not had sex with anyone for 2years and had never had anything that would lead me to believe I may have an STD I hadn't been to my Doctor until the outbreaks became more frequent which was only after the H being diagnosed in 2007 2years after because I had nothing that was memorable a far as rashes were concerned and I'd not had sex since 2005 I asked my Doctor when when I first presented to him with this rash and he told me once in 2005 only ten did I remember the one time incident in 2005 which I'd long since forgotten about and was pretty shocked by this diagnosis because although my Doctor must have known it was G Herpes way back then he did not tell me he simply prescribed Aciclovar and I thought no more about it not knowing anything about Genital Herpes at that time and never having had a Genital Outbreak, all through 2006 I had maybe 2 small outbreaks which I thought nothing of I just thought it was that annoying little rash the Doctor had already seen and he didn't say it as anything to worry about then so I didn't either, however since actually having confirmation of HSV2  in 2007 my outbreaks have been very frequent albeit one tiny spot on my back that pops up every other day, since being told I think about it all the time it never leaves me could this be the reason I am having more outbreaks because it's on my mind all the time, but it's difficuIt not to think about it when it keeps on appearing .....
My Doctor changed me from Aciclovar to Valtrex a few months ago I don't know why he did this I didn't ask, but I'm now wondering if the Valtrex is not working so well for me.

Any thoughts on this ??? is it me and my constant wondering why this spot keeps appearing or could it be the Valtrex isn't working as well for me as the Aciclovar seemed to fbe?! ....

Thank You your advice is always very much appreciated .... I have now been on  Suppressive Therapy with Aciclovar for about 3 weeks now and no rashes have appeared I feel much better in myself because every time the rash showed up I felt very low and down so it's made a huge difference to how I feel in general....

Thanks again

anything that is popping up every other day needs further evaluation by a dermatologist.  I suggest consulting one and then going from there.

No reason not to try suppressive therapy with acyclovir. It's cheap and works well you just have to take it more often than you do valtrex. It would at least take the herpes out of things to help you better tell what is herpes and what isn't.

Thanks for your reply
I have only so far taken the Valtrex if I think I an outreak is imminent, but it seems that as soon as I stop after the 5 days course withing a day or so the rash appears again albeit maybe just one tiny spot nothing major at all it's more annoying than anything else,I just felt if and when I took Aciclovar for outbreaks I didn't get another one for some time, since being changed over to Valtrex this is not the case,I have now asked to be on Supressive Therapy with Aciclovar which would mean taking it every day with or without the rash.

How often are you taking the valtrex?  Are you taking it every single day or just when you have the rash?

If you haven't already, be sure to read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com and watch the patient counseling video there too. Both are helpful :)
