Recurring Bump On My Groin

For the last two years, I have been having a recurring pimple appear on my groin.  It usually is red/white and can be irritating and slightly itchy not painful.  I have probably been to the Doctor's office twice and to two different Planned Parenthood's twice in the last two years and have been told it was genital herpes at first, but then have no antibodies in my blood test for hsv 1 or 2.  Then I went and got checked at a Planned Parenthood and described my symptoms and was told that because of the area of recurring bumps that it was most likely folliculitis and also be tested negative for herpes.  The doctor and Planned Parenthood said that it was most likely folliculitis because white/brownish pus leaked out of the bump when popped meaning that it was bacteria.  This has been going on for the last 2 years.

I am a sexually active gay man who is 24 and have been taking Solodyn (minocycline) for acne for the last 3 years.  I haven't had any penetration, but have frotted with two different guys in the last year since I was tested.   My dermatologist and my doctor has said that the solodyn should control the folliculitis.  Last week I had another itchy red/white bump reappear and once again the bump popped and whitish/brownish first leaked out then a clear liquid out of the bump.  Also, the pus had a funny odor.  After a week there still is a little bump, but my skin looks flaky and dry and am worried that it could have been herpes because it looks like it's scabbing over.  I am not sure what the differences between herpes and folliculitis would be.  This bump has been reappearing in the same spot for the last 2 years.  I am going to get my annual std test with my Doctor in two weeks and am wondering if it was herpes would the antibodies appear in a blood test or is this still most likely follicultis

odds are this isn't herpes going on.

follow up with a dermatologist as needed.

1 that I performed oral sex on, but no penetration and  4 other partners with mutual masturbation and frottage. I still have a slight bump, but it's painless and it looks more like a rash than a scab

you've had repeated negative herpes tests. have you had a new partner since the last time you were tested?
