Red scar cold sore! contagious?

I started to get cold sores when I was 21. It seems I get an outbreak every year..when the weather changes. I got my 2nd cold sore the middle of February and the scab went away the first week of March. However, I have a red mark/scar and now it is May. Almost a full 3 months with this red spot on my lip. I am wondering if I am still contagious? I have read that after this red mark disappears then I am not as contagious. But it has been 3 months... help! I would like to kiss my fiance!

red marks that linger don't mean that the virus is still active. this is just normal healing skin.

has your partner been tested to know his own status?
