Redness and swelling at tip of penis

I had unprotected sex with a girl, while in South Korea, that I had met in Soule. I had only slept with her once but without using a condom. Ever since then, I have devoloped a redness at the tip of my penis just around the eutrethra and there is a slight swelling just below it as well. It had started off with just a little redness and then the swelling came and the redness has gotten worse. I also noticed what looked like minature cracks where the swelling just below the eurethra.

I went to get an STD test done and when the results came back I was clean on everything except for HSV-2, that came back positive. My doctor perscribed me Valtrex but said the redness and swelling at the tip of my penis didn't look like herpes, but more like a mild dermititis. She told me to try the Valtrex to see if there were any changes.

Took the Valtrex as prescribed and all doses, twice, still with no changes. I have never had an outbreak to date and was told that I more than likely would have had one by now. Returned to the doctor and still she thought dermatitis but noticed it had gotten a bit worse and I might need to see a dermatologist. Any help would be much appreciated. I have also noticed that the skin on the tip of my penis and halfway down the shaft, appears silky and has a slight sheen to it where it is more shiny than usual and it is unusually red in those areas for me.

It doesn't hurt to pee but i do notice an unusual stinging ever once in awhile maybe twice a day for like 2 secs. This develpoed just recently as well as the redness moving to the top hood of my penis. I have been using calomine lotion and taking benadryl but with no effect. The redness and swelling does get worse after masturbation but then goes back to how it was. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

jisaw,

You should start your own thread with your question.  Briefly if it has lasted for 4 months it isn't herpes.  See your doctor.

even if you do have hsv2 genitally, not everything that goes on in your genital area has to be due to herpes. your current symptoms do not sound like hrpes.

do you know your herpes blood test results?
