Redness on head of penis

I have redness on the top of my penis, right around the urinary opening.  Noticed this first about ten days ago when had problems with urine stream in middle of night spraying in all directions.  This continues.  More recently have itching in urinary tract in penis, a little burning, more frequent urination.  Area of redness enlarged a bit over last week but still just on tip.  I am circumcised. No sexual activity other than long term partner.

What could be the causes??

I have been having sort of the same probelm.  the top of my penis is always red, like its dry and irritated.  There arent any blisters on the surface that scab over like herpes.  I have trouble with my urine stream as well.  i noticed today that there was a shiny scaly look to the glands on the tip right side near the urethra.  I put "Curel" lotion on it and it helps but it doesnt go away.  Sometimes it feels like it burns as if the skin were really dry.  Again no blisters nor intense itching, no scabs no pain.  Just red patch on top of penis.  Its more visible especially after taking a poo.  Ive been worried for quiet some time, what should i do?  

p.s.- i Have only had sex twice in the past year (july & Dec. 08'), i used a condom both times.  i received unprotected oral sex (Feb.09') but probelm already existed.

It really doesn't sound like herpes going on.
