Saliva used as lubricant during hsv 1 outbreak

I have a cold sore and used spit to lubricate my boyfriend's penis, how likely is it that i can give him hsv 1 genital just through spit?

he's still not likely to contract hsv1 genitally from this.

even though he can't recall ever having had a cold sore, doesn't mean he doesn't already have hsv1. Worthwhile getting him tested to see what his status is.

Thanks for answering... he has never had a cold sore so that is why I am very concerned my saliva could have given it to him. I'm so worried about it. I didn't know the saliva carried it...I always assumed it had to be weeping and in direct contact with him for him to get it. I haven't had a cold sore in years and this one just won't go away :(

very low risk.

has he ever been tested to know his own status or can he recall ever having had an obvious cold sore before?

in general saliva is a poor lubricant. Always worthwhile to keep a tube of good lube nearby :)
