Well, I can only speak from what I experienced, but with me I just had two small red bumps appear at first, but I payed no mind, but then they turned to blisters, and multiplied. There was no doubt that it was herpes. It was exactly 3 days after my exposure. It could be something else, who knows. But try not to stress yourself out about it. you'll drive yourself crazy. If you do have it, then you do. It doesn't really make too much of a difference. I haven't been on any antivirals for it, and my outbreak's almost completely healed. I'm fine. You'll be fine whether you do or not. But if you feel there's a chance you have it, just use condoms to be safe. No worries :)
That is very interesting. I had the exact same symptoms. I had the swollen neck glands for about a day or two and i had recently shaved as well so my groin area was itchy at times. But I never got blisters. I only had one tiny red bump that didn't hurt or itch and went away within 3 or 4 days without any antivirals but my doctor did give me doxy for 10 days as a precaution. I am still not testing positive on my igg herpes test and its been almost 10 months post exposure. However, i did have a low positive on a herpes i/ii combination igm test. I was told by people on here to ignore this result but how can I after hearing that you had the exact same symptoms but got obvious sores. I am also still having penis pains and other symptoms that i don't see what else could be the cause but herpes. Very confused.
I had the flu like symptoms, the lymph nodes in my neck were only swollen for like a day, and if I had the itching I paid it no mind. I had just recently shaved, so I would have assumed it was just the hair growing back.
If i may ask, what were your initial symptoms when you got infected? Did you have the flu-like symptoms? Did you get swollen lymph nodes i.e neck or groin area? Where there any prodrome symptoms like tingling/ burning sensations/ itching before the sores appeared? I'm just curious. Thanks
Omg. you were so right about that spray! It's amazing, thank you for that!!
yes this will all hurt until it's done :(
totally up to you if you want to continue taking baths or not. some folks find it comforting, if you don't, no reason to do so.
I mean I don't think this outbreak has been as severe as most peoples initial outbreaks are, this is so far the most painful part of it. And everything I read said the open sore stage was the most painful. I thank god it isn't worse than it is.
And do you think I should continue taking Epsom salt baths even though it hurts? Because I can deal with the pain if it'll help them heal faster.
I can't bear the thought of having to go to school Monday like this. I hope it gets at least somewhat better by then.
I responded but my phone isn't showing that it posted. I don't know.
are the scabs themselves supposed to hurt? Because mine do, something awful. I haven't been picking at them at all but they rub together when I walk. Would that make them hurt this badly?
yeah I love the spray.
it's unfortunate that they didn't give you herpes antivirals :( It can take up to 4-6 weeks for herpes to fully run its course and the antivirals help to speed that up a bit.
I'd write a letter of complaint to the clinic about how they totally dropped the ball on your treatment too at some point.
and of course you got your period on top of this!! mother nature has a wicked sense of humor....sigh
They had given me lortabs, they were speckled, I can't remember the dosage, I've already ran out. I had my period on top of it all too.
I'm already getting rabis vaccines because of a cat incident, so I think they're kind of lenient to put me on too much more.
I've just been trying to rest. Because all of the irritation seems to get 227x worse at night, go figure.
I'm definitely making an investment in dermoplast spray though.
also you can pick up a can of dermoplast spray ( the blue can for the genital area, not the red can ) at almost any drug store. you can spray it on several times a day for help with pain and itching. it's usually under $10.
don't hesitate to take a benadryl at bedtime for help sleeping and not itching too ( unless you have a medical reason not to of course ).
also the new lesions popping up like this is pretty normal too.
they really dropped the ball for you :( I recommend making an appointment with your gyn for next week. make sure they test you for vaginal infections so that they aren't further complicating things too.
what medication did they give you? dose?
They didn't. And yes, I've been with the same guy for a year, he gave me oral while he had a cold sore. Neither of us knew I could get infected that way. And 3 days later I had the symptoms.
supposedly he and I are both going to go get tested in January. But, I'm not sure.
a visual diagnosis is fine for treating it but it also needs to be confirmed with testing. since they evidently did not do a lesion culture and typing, you 'll need to follow up with a type specific herpes igg blood test 3 months after you last had sex prior to this.
do you have a regular partner? if so, have they been tested yet to know their own status?
did they do any testing for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you were seen and diagnosed?
Okay, I really am sorry that I keep commenting on this. But I'm a bit spastic today. I'm just confused, and I'm sorry if I keep making additional posts, it says I'm commenting. I don't know.
is it possible to have another outbreak just as one is healing? Because I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. More blisters are showing up where others have turned into scabs.
Being as how this is my initial outbreak, are these new sores going to be as severe as the first were? I know things are different for everyone, but just generally.
I'm just trying to get as knowledgeable as I can so in the future, I'll know what's going on, and what to do.
Just reading a lot of these forums have helped ease my mind and give me hope. And I'm sure you hear this all the time, but thank you for volunteering time from your life to help people like me. It means a lot.
Also, the majority of the pain started after school when I took a bath. My pants were kind of tight, and I know that could irritate the sores more. So, could that be the cause of the pain?
I have multiple lesions that seem to be on different stages, some are scabbing over, some are still oozing. It seems to be the ones scabbing over that are causing the pain.
And there isn't much information about the scab stage on the internet.
I apologize for typing so much. I'm just anxious I guess.
Thank you so much for responding.
The hospital just diagnosed me by looking at it. They said it was definitely hsv2. They said I would need to go see my gynecologist if it persisted for more than two Weeks. They gave me lortabs to help ease the pain, and a little book on it and sent me on my way.
what testing have you had done so far? do you have hsv1 or hsv2?
what medications were you given by your provider? what dose and for how long?
grace
try to see a doctor for an anti-convulsion meds that will make it less painful ok message me for more info. :)
