We don't have stats like that.
At this point, hubby can get tested to see what his status is. If he's still negative, just continue what you've been doing because obviously it's working well for you :)

I have prodrome symptoms but they don't tunr into outbreaks. If someone was exposed during this time what is the percentage that the virus was transmitted to them and how long before they might see signs. I have been married for 23 years and I am on suppressant therapy and to my knowledge my husband has not gotten the virus. I have always avoided sex when I had an outbreak or knew that one was coming. My prodrome symptoms are so mild, that I sometimes wonder if i am just imagining them as they don't always turn into an outbreadk. I have just recently learned that the disease can be contracted during prodrome periods and now I am concerned that he may have been exposed. Does the "strength" of the virus diminish over time and is it weaker as far as exposure. I'm sorry to ask so many questions, I am just very concerned since learning of the "shedding".
Thanks
A prodrome is a sign your body gives you that the virus is starting to be active. Some folks never get them. Some folks get itching, tingling or pain about a day or so prior to an ob.
Shedding is when the virus is active. It occurs both with and without obvious lesions present. When you have an obvious lesion present then you know the virus is shedding. asymptomatic shedding is just that - shedding without symptoms.
You will still have ob's and you will still shed the virus even while on daily suppressive therapy but you'll just do it less. if you start to have a prodrome of a possible herpes ob, up your medication to the outbreak or episodic dose and avoid sex.
