Shingles Rash for 16 Weeks

For the first 10 weeks I had no pain or anything...just the rash. Now I am having some pain but this rash will not subside. It isn't very itchy unless I leave it to dry and don't put anything on it. I have been to the doc and he confirmed that it was shingles. The rash has never turned into angry puss filled blisters. Does HAVE to do this before it goes away? I am frustrated as my doctor has basically done nothing and referred me to a dermatologist...I have read ratings on this dermatologist and he sounds like a monster. I need to know what he would do for me. I am only 24 yrs old.

Is there any idea of what it could be? It is similar to a shingles rash, I have pain twinges every once in a while but nothing terrible. I've also had anti viral medication which didn't do a thing!

I didn't have any blood work done. He diagnosed me just by looking at it.

don't even go see this dermatologist if you are walking into it uncomfortable with the person you are seeing. Plenty of others out there to chose from.

what testing did you have done originally to diagnose shingles?

Shingles rashes won't stick around this long.  sounds like something else going on at this point even if you did originally have shingles.
