Sore throat and other symptoms?

A few weeks ago I performed unprotected oral sex on a woman I met at a bar, and she briefly performed oral sex on me. There was no vaginal sex. About 48-72 hours later, I came down rapidly with a sore throat, aches, and fatigue, but no real cough or nasal problems to speak of. I also noticed one small canker sore inside my mouth (not outside on the lips). Anyway, I don't know if these symptoms are from the flu, strep, some other virus, or HSV 1 or 2. The canker sore was quite small and unproblematic. I don't know if it is related to this encounter.

You are assuming she has genital herpes, which she may or may not. However, without an active outbreak, to contract it from one time oral sex is incredibly rare, if not close to impossible. If she had HSV-2, it does not prefer the oral sacrum. If she had HSV-1 in the genial region, it does not shed much. Very tiny risk here. I bet it was just a canker sore caused by stress or minor illness not related to this sexual contact, but merely coincidental.

Thanks so much. It was on the inside lip, but clearly within the mouth and not outside of it. I might not have even noticed it had I not been stressed. I'm trying to figure out whether there are reasonable ways of accounting for the 4-5 day sore throat, fatigue, swollen glands, ache. Obviously that it came so soon after the incident seems problematic, but I've also been stressed out due to school so perhaps my immune system was weak and I just finally got sick. That's what I hope (rather than as STI)

Canker sores within the mouth are completely unrelated to HSV.  I get them occasionally also and have found out that they are genetically linked. They can be prompted when the immune system is down, if you had a cold or flu, or when stressed. It can also be from irritation due to oral care products or foods.

I should add that the sore throat was quite painful and lasted about 4-5 days.
