Staph or herpes?

Hello. I am greatly distressed and looking for a second opinion concerning a positive result for type 2 herpes.  I had gone in because of a lesion on my right labia. From pictures on the internet, it looked like a boil.  I saw a nurse practitioner at a clinic who said it looked herpetic, and she suggested I get tested. This week, I tested negative for Type 1 and positive for Type 2 with an IgG of 23.6. It is my current understanding that this is a low positive result, and it could be a false positive.
Here is the back story that is further creating my confusion:  About 14 years ago I cut myself deeply on the right side of my vagina while shaving. It took a couple of weeks to heal. Soon after, my right hip began hurting with a deep, aching pain. I felt ill, and after my fever broke, it was like I had wet my pants, but it was just clear wetness-like I'd wet my pants, but it wasn't urine. Then I got a boil like lesion in the place where I'd cut myself. I can't remember the exact timeline, but some weeks. I was concerned and frightened, but I didn't go to the doctor. I didn't have another problem for a year or two. In terms of sexual history, I had had my first experience at age 20 with someone I was with for 5 years. There was never an issue. My second relationship was for 7 years total ( about 2-3 years at the time this first happened). I never had an issue until after I cut myself. My partner was aware and said he wasn't concerned. Later in the relationship when it came up again, he said he'd been tested and didn't have it. But, I never saw it on paper. After that relationship ended, I had no relations with anyone for about 3 years, and I decided I needed an answer.  I went to the doctor when I had a lesion. At this time I had had a sore in 3 places. I believe I spread it, in my lack of understanding, by feeling the bump and then feeling around in the two other spots for  any other sores. I would feel a creepy, crawly sensation most of the time, and an ache in my right hip. The skin in my genital area  on the right side was swollen and hurt like a mild sunburn. The lesion would look and feel similar to a carbuncle and last a couple of weeks.
First, I explained to him everything I just said above. When I went, the doctor said it could be herpes. He first ordered a blood test that was type specific. When I got the results, they were similar to the recent test result. I can't recall how it read exactly, but it was negative for 1 and positive for 2. He didn't do too much explanation, but he sent me to a woman gynecologist for an examination. There was no lesion present, but she did a vaginal examination and said I did not have herpes.  From that point forward, he treated it as a staph infection with Bactrim ointment and antibiotics. He tried several types. They had begun to happen more frequently at this time, and each time he would see the lesion. They began to get much smaller and go away much quicker. When I took the medicine, I could feel it working. Also, the sore wouldn't come up all the way. Over a period of several months, it began to happen less. Since that time (around 35) I would have one occasionally, usually after doing an activity that made me sweat a lot. It's probably been 4 years since I had one in this area. I have since moved, and my old doctor passed away last year. So, when I got this, I decided I might go again for antibiotics. I had had one on my bottom that had tried to come up for a while. Then it did. So this is my second one. I had only been with my husband during this time, and he had no stds that I'm aware of. We were together 3 years. I told the np my back story, but she still thinks it's herpes. I have taken 2 rounds of Valtrex. The sore went down, but is still faintly there. It was a centimeter bump with puss. I put antibiotic cream on it. It got larger for a couple of days, but then got smaller. Lasted about a week. I'm still feeling creepy, crawly sensation and dull ache on my right side. Still swollen slightly.
I want to accept reality, but I want to deal with the situation with the correct medication. What do you think? I have scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist, and I will take my test results. Unfortunately, it's with a physician's assistant, so I'm thinking of making a different appointment somewhere else.  I will greatly appreciate any thoughts.

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure exactly what your asking for, but here is what the test reads exactly:
HSV 1 IgG, type spec           23.60
                                              Above high normal
Negative 1.09

Do I call the lab? It was Quest lab-Labcorp

it appears to show  that a negative is 1.09 and your 23.60 for hsv1 not hsv2. But to be more clear it should show the negative and postive range.
like below:
igG hsv1 1.2 positive      (The means above)

Your test is not clear on this but as it reads your positive for hsv1.

I got the idea that this was low positive from a post on this site. It said the cut off was 22 for IgG.

The most common positive range for the igG test is any number above 1.2. You need to confirm this cut off number with the test you took, not from seeing it somewhere on this forum
