State of confusion/false positive?

So 4 years ago I received a positive 1.16 igg for hsv2. I went in thinking it was a uti.  After visit I Never had An outbreak, never took medication, never worked out or ate healthy. Took a retest last year and it came up negative. I'm going for a another test Tuesday. I still have yet to have an outbreak. I guess I'm asking if this could be a false positive? Or advise or anyone's thoughts on this. I'm not in a stage of denial, just confused.

Sounds like my doctor I USED to go to. I have it and will have it for life no ifs ands or buts. Thanks to google and medhelp I was able to find many other stories similar to mine and got a biokit from a nearby clinic ( 2 hours away) and a western blot through the university of Washington and both are negative. Screw herpeselect test

Wow! Your old doc needs a lot of herpes education, not to mention some TLC training. (Nobody should ever be prescribed suppressive treatment for HSV solely because of a positive blood test. Sheesh.)

I agree with you completely. My old doctors don't. Hense why I'm leaving their practice. They never asked
For a retest, or stated it was a low positive. Just yes you have it, prescribe the medication and then told me I would need a live check in 10 years from taking the medication.

"I would love to find out it's a false positive...."

You already found that out. The combination of very low positive initially, plus the negative test last year, shows you do not have HSV2.

But certainly I agree everyone deserves a doctor who will seriously listen to their concerns!

I would love to find out it's a false positive, but I know it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had herpes. It's just when I would try to talk to my old doctors office they would disregard my questions and comments. And tell me "you can go your whole life without an outbreak". So I'm hoping my new doctors listen to me

I misread -- didn't realize you already had a negative test result after the weakly positive one. That was conclusive -- you really didn't need yet another test. You can expect a negative result.

Your probably don't have HSV2; most such weakly positive IgG results are false. There's a good chance your new test will be entirely negative. If it's still in the gray zone of uncertainty (over 0.9 but under 3.5), you can have a Western blot test to know for sure.
