Cold Sore treatment
ToddGack
Good evening,
I have a big event coming up and get cold sores occasionally. My question is, can Valacyclovir be taken as a preventative measure if I take it a few days in advance of the big event? If so, what dosage? Thanks.
Todd

well, sure, it might help, I would give it a try if that's all the time you have.

Thx....will taking in a day in advance possibly help if you didn't start 5 days prior?

Absolutely, I do it all the time. I would suggest 1 gram of valacyclovir a day, starting 5 days in advance of the event.
