Still acting up despite suppressive therapy

I have been taking acyclovir 800mg at q8h intervals for about 1 month because I suspected I might have HSV of the genitals.  I started the medication due to the appearace of several red flat dots( 1mm in diameter) on my penile head.  The dots went away about 10 days later but they reappeared again about two days ago, despite non-stop medication.  Is it possible for herpes to manifest during suppressive therapy?  If I did have herpes and it was the primary episode that I had one month ago, did acting up again two days ago while still under medication meant my antibodies ( IgG) were not sufficient yet?  I had an ELISA HSV 1 and 2 tests done and they were negative. ( 8 weeks from the possible date of infection)

Thank You

is this a drug that you can get over the counter because you say you started taking the meds with the suspicion that you may have HSV2 :-?

and you had negative tests... I say go get tested again... and find out what the real issue is... you could be taking the wrong meds!  Not to mention they could be causing an adverse allergic reaction :-/

Well, even if you hadn't developed antibodies yet, the acyclovir should be helping if this is herpes.

It doesn't sound like you've had a doctor check this out - why not?
