Strange initial Herpes outbreak?

Perhaps trying to put my mind at ease since I'm traveling and can't see a doctor.

On Thursday, I noticed 4-6 small sores had formed at the base of my penis within my pubic hair region. They are not painful nor do they itch, but there is a little red around them.

The first one has disappeared on its own, leaving only a small red mark. I picked at another one and it bled a little bit and scabbed slightly. The other two, I picked at and could get to pop or open up or anything.

I had shaved this area about a week before with a probably too old razor, but while some of these may be folliculitis, I don't think they all are at hair follicles. Can an infection at one follicle site spread?

1.5 weeks before this outbreak, I had fairly severe flu-like symptoms (aches, pains, chills, fever, upset stomach) but flu was going around with co-workers and family at the time.

This is the first sort of "outbreak" I've had like this. The last sexual encounters I had were mid-December (receiving unprotected oral sex) and vaginal sex with a condom. Since that was 3.5 months ago, is it likely that the skin condition I'm experiencing now for the first time is herpes? Or that this first outbreak would occur exclusively in the pubic hair region where I had recently shaved?

This does not sound like hsv. Flu like symptoms come at the same time. Usually the sores come first. Not the other way around.
This sounds like folicus more than anything.
Also initial outbreaks usually happen 3-5 days. Rarely up to twenty days. Not over three months.
Hsv sores take 10-14 days to heal. They start as small red bumps then evolve into a fluid filled blisters in a day or two. Then they pop, scab and then heal. This takes atleasr ten days to two weeks. Never a few days.
