Tested WB

Terri

Thanks for the chat last week.  I'm headed into do WB right now.  Going to a ortho dr the afternoon.  I got my 14 week results.  Negative.  But I still have pain and burning on my penis, especially around the rim and urethra.  I am sick of this off and on again pain.  I'm taking 1500 mg of famvir now and lyrica.  Lyrica really helps me sleep.

My mind is wrapped around this disease.  Why is my urethra always sore and hurting???

Sorry my phone auto corrected.  I meant 'I shouldn't trust any test I've taken thus far to include this WB?'

How long do I wait?  Man I feel stupid.

So my I shouldn't test any test I just took including the WB?  How long should I wait to retest based on the fact I had taken Famvir?

That is a very old comment from Dr. Handsfield, and if you asked him now, based on what we know about how the medicine impacts the test, I think he would answer differently.  The University of Washington now adds to the disclosure on the test results that antiviral medicine can impact the test results.  Stop taking it.

Terri I'm confused.  Are you saying the famvir doesn't let my body build antibodies?  I found this remark from dr handsfield below.  I will stop famvir now.  I just started when I got my false positive test and didn't stop.

The only tests affected by antiviral drugs are those that detect the virus itself, e.g. culture of a lesion--and that's a sign the drug is working, i.e. suppressing the virus in the lesion.  The anti-herpetic drugs do not affect blood test results at all.

I started famvir years ago.  i take it maybe once every 6 months.  Lately, about 2 weeks ago I started daily.  I had taken it off and on for the past few months but not a lot.  Maybe once a week on a bad day.
I didn't realize that made a difference on testing.  Now I'm more stressed.  So I can't trust my 14 week results?

Even on the famvir I'm still having symptoms.

We talked about this earlier today.  I am not going to comment on this until you get the test results back.  However, if you are taking Famvir, this can really change the test results.  I believe we talked about this  Why are you doing that?    And how long have you been taking it?

Ok ortho dr says its not my back causing this pain.  Says I have something else going on.  Now I'm even more stressed.  Says his guess is prostatitis but the urologist says my prostate looks fine.

What now?

I am getting this crawling sensation on my penis.  And a feeling of pressure in the area between my legs and genitals.  Kinda inner thigh to genitals.  These are symptoms of herpes?  Plus the burning and stabbing pains?  I may have tested negative at 14 weeks but I'm lost as to why I continue to have these pains.

Stressed!  Burning pain from rectum to penis tip.  Burning on my lower back to my legs.  Scared.
