You can test as much as you want but any lesions anywhere on the body that are hanging around this long - aren't due to herpes. Primary hsv1 oral infections typically cause lesions inside the mouth and can cause them on the tongue - recurrences on the tongue area only would be very unusual. They also weren't relieved with antiviral use so that's one more indicator that it isn't herpes. You even could be walking around with dry mouth causing these issues. If your regular doctor can't figure out what is going on - don't hesitate to consult your dentist too.

Yea...I mean, it's only my tongue that's the problem...some days my tongue looks dry...and the lesions seem to be going down..and then few days down the road they come back.
The only reason I think the herpes is related to the lesions in my mouth is because I didn't have this problem before
I need to go and have another test.
Thanks everyone.
Very interesting. It sounds like this is herpes related and you had a REAL bad initial outbreak because you mentioned it was one of the places you had the lesion and it never fully healed which leads me to believe you had it other places as well. I have heard of people getting such a horrible outbreak where the skin doesn't look the same anymore. Do you see the lesions clearing up a little every day or month etc or is it the same as it was when you had this outbreak?
chances are that your mouth lesions are not related to your herpes. Recurrences inside the mouth and this often is rather unusual.
First thing to do is look at the mouth products you are using. don't use anything but plain ole toothpaste. Don't use tartar control products, compete or total toothpastes or even whitening toothpastes. they all contain acids that further irritate your mouth and can cause reactions. If you really feel the need to use mouthwash - use plain ole mouthwash. All the alcohol in mouthwash can cause issues too in some folks.

Well, I was on Valtrex, but that didn't do anything to the lesions on my tongue...do you mean some other form of meds. Thanks, by the way.
Taking oral medication daily. Or taking it at the first sign of your outbreaks. This isn't likely to be type 2 if it's herpes.
What exactly does that consist of?
Why haven't you tried antiviral therapy if these are in fact herpes?
PS...it was a swab test about a week after I had been sick
Yes, they have...I only had one test though. My doctor claimed it to be herpes, but could not determine what type. She said I needed to go get a blood test...and while it's stupid, I've been to ashamed to go :-/
Are you sure these are herpes lesions? Have they been diagnosed as herpes lesions?
