Transmission and Asymptomatic Shedding

I was diagnosed with hsv-2 6 months ago. I have so many questions...I have been doing alot of research online and havent seemed to be able to figure a few things out. 1) when is asymptomatic shedding most likey? Is it right before an outbreak or immediately following an outbreak after the sores are healed? Is is it less likely after an outbreak? 2) what is the rate of transmission (female to male) when condoms are used sometimes but you are on suppressive therapy? 3) how long does it take for your suppressive therapy to actually kick in? do you have to take the meds for a certain amount of time before your transmission rates are lowered (on valtrex or acyclovir) ?

1 - typically a day or so before obvious lesions and until the lesions heal.  It differs from person to person.

2 - always on suppressive therapy with valtrex and avoiding sex anytime you have anything going on genitally and the odds are 98% each year that he won't contract hsv2 from you. throw in condoms with all that and it's 99% each year on average.

3- 5 days if you start it when no symptoms are present.

keep asking questions!
