Extreme itching
My external and sometimes internal vagina itches all the time. It's so intense i itch all night while I sleep. I went to the gyn and everything was clear. No infection of any type. No uti, no yeast or bv yet the intense itching continues. Any ideas? Could it be herpes??
Just to let you know before you get tested. A full STI test does not routinely include a test for genital herpes. You may need to specifically request it. If you get tested while the itching is going on a swab can be taken of that area and sent off for testing. If you do have genital herpes the virus will be present.
One thing to ask yourself, is the itching on the skin surface or does it feel like it's under the skin? I have genital herpes and, just before I have an outbreak, I get an intense itch which feels like it's under the skin.
I hope your STI tests comes up negative. At the same time, I hope they can figure out what's causing the itching and find a solution. Good luck.

Thanks for that story I DO in fact feel like I'm over washing. After my dr wants me to keep coming in for office visits I decided to go over the counter and get monistat. I got the one day treatment that has external cream included and never in my life have I ever felt so free. All the symptoms completely went away. For 4-5 days I felt amazing and no matter how hard I tired to think about itching it never came. About day 6 or 7 however the itching returned. I applied the external cream and viola again the itching stopped. It keeps coming and going but I think I'm gonna head over to the women's community board and possibly ask about treating this yeast infection that I've been carrying around for 8 or more months.
As far as peace of mind I still want to get tested for stds. What is the blood test I need to order?? Igg?

I understand your frustration. The spot you put the cream on that went away in two days is in no way herpes related. Herpes lesions take on the minimum 10 days to heal. I don't care what you put on a herpes lesion it wont go away in a few days.
Nothing including the small dark spots screams hsv at all.
Now that being said I wish I new what was causing your itching and discharge.
Do you think you could be having issues with soaps or detergents? Fabric softeners...etc
The reason I ask is, It may sound strange but here it goes. This summer (I work in the heat) I my anus was red and so itchy. Despite being a tradesman.lol I am very clean and was very frustrated by my apparent dirty swamp *** and despite my best efforts I just couldn't shake it. I saw a dermatologist. Mutch to my surprise I was way to clean. I had cleaned away the natural oils of the skin and left a dry super irritated anus. The dic said just water and ni soaps for atleast a week. Low and behold I was right again in less than a week. My piont is when something happens like this we tend to go through great measures to make things better and it usually has the opposite effect.
I truely hope you find the cause. You may want to see a differant dr if you are not getting anywhere. Good luck girl and please keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply. I was treated for bv even tho it was neg. now I'm treating with otc monistat. Gonna go this course and see if it's relieved. Still currently itching and have weird smelling discharge. It's not foul just weird smell. I tested neg for clamidya and gonorrhea.
The thing is I had protected sex but the condom broke three times! At that point we just had sex w/o condom. I never saw this guy again. About a week after ...I got a patch about the size of a dime that burned so bad on my labia. I put steroid cream for 2 days and it went away. Then 4 months later all this insane itching started. It's been nonstop. The itching has been there 6 months now. It's driving me insane and I'm so scared it's herpes. I have a bunch of dark spots down there that the obgyn said are angiomas that "I've had since birth" and that is just not possible I've never seen them until all this itching mess happened. They are small dark pinpoints and they itch too. I'm so confused and scared. Should I just do a blood test for all stds?? I'm really embarrassed.

I will try to help. It is not hsv. Hsv just doesn't act this was. The itching people are usually talking about is in the healing of the sores I would definitely go back and speak with your gyno again.
