Gotta agree with Life360_Dave on this one, you need to find out the type (at least to understand how to treat it). Plus you can get type1 on the genitals (oral caution always worth a thought). By the way millions of people have HSV1 (to some degree or another) so I hope that puts things in perspective. I used to get it orally and I could always tell when it was coming on (always happened in the middle of the night!?). I would get a tingly feeling at the corner of my mouth and then by mid-day "hello little bump". Life style changes can greatly reduce the risk or reoccurrences (quit smoking, less alcohol, eat healthy, exercise, etc.) and there are medications out there to help you reduce outbreaks (in both HSV1&2). Personally, I did some research on BHT and have been taking it for almost a year with not a single outbreak (most say its snake oil, but I say do your own research come to your own conclusion!?). Anyway, best of luck to you! Keep us posted.
You need to find the type as type 1 sheds less than type 2 and shedding is the issue when no sores are present.
The culture came from my genital area
The culture came back positive? if yes what area was it taken from.
I broke out in my gentitale area and face at the same time but he never did only on his face after I had my outbreak. He gave it to me it was confirmed but I'm just still all confused and my doctor has not been much help with my questions. They did both blood and a culture. I'm just at a loss because I want to have a sex life but I'm too afraid of passing it even with protection.
Hi, type 2 is more common in the gential area but certainly type 1 can be tramsmitted there from oral sex. However type 2 is much more sever and painful. Its important to find out which you have and how were you diagnosed?
