i should note my only sexual encounter in the last four years was 5 weeks prior to this...it has not gotten any worse or better
you already have a post going in the std experts forum. continue to follow up there.
First I've heard of a doctor saying ACYLOVIR would 'kill' the herpes virus if in it's early stages. Grace will want to weigh in on that one I would imagine.
Not sure about the herpes possibility based on your description, Grace & others will be better to speak to that.
But you GP possibly has a point. The red/pink skin that went away could possibly be because of as you said, the rubbing & pressure in that area from the heavy lifting and carrying you were doing. Followed by the sciatica pain you experienced, could possibly be related to your lifting as well. The MRI is the correct thing to do in regards to that possibility for a bulging or herniated disc. That needs to be ruled out I would think. Also, your GP is correct about the lower back and the pubic region. The L5-S1 disc does affect nerves in the public area as well as the lower back. I went through that problem a fews years ago when I had a herniated disc.
thanks for your feedback..i tried following up on the docotors forum i did not get a reply..i know you are not a doctor but would you recommend taking the ACYLOVIR as a precautionary? or would that build up anti-bodies for hereps that i do not have and have false positive test? the red/pinkish area went away in a day in your opinion would herpes sore or rash come and go in a day?
bump it back up so they see it.
I doubt ACYLOVIR will 'fool' your immune system into producing antibodies for something that isn't there. I can't see that antibodies for Herpes are going to build up unless herpes is actually present in your body. Grace would be the person to adress whether you should be taking the medication or not without being diagnosed yet.
I know the doctor that i saw before offered to put me on some treatment right wawy based on a visual exam in lieu of being tested. She was sure it was herpes. I told her I'd rather be tested first. She then said, in that case we'll wait on putting me on anything. She then agreed there was no need to start treatment until tests were confirmed. Test came back negative so I never had to start it. Haven't had problems since.
My understanding is you haven't had any herpes-like outbreaks of sores or lesions, just the sciatica and the redness on your pubic area from the rubbing and lifting you did that went away, right? I'd still consider what the GP said about the MRI for your back. That sounds like a possibillty to me that should be checked. Like I said, The L5-S1 disc (located between the 5th Lumbar vertebrae & 1st Sacrum vertebrae) effects the nerves in the pubic area as well as the sciatic nerves going down the butt and legs.
Good luck.
