Valtrex dosage during outbreak

It seems that sine I'm getting mixed messages in eagards to Valtrex dosages during an outbreak. I currently take 500 mg of Valacyclovir daily as a suppressant. But I am still having outbreaks. When having one do I increase my dosage? I asked my doctor and she said no since it was already in my system just continue taking the 500mg daily.
Also it seems since I've gotten the diagnosis, that I'm having more outbreaks, could it be I need a stronger daily dosage for suppression? Or do I need to wait to see my long term response? I have been on the Valacyclovir for 31 days. I'm terrified to have intercourse because I feel like I'm always in OB mode or possibly shedding. How many OB's are typical in a month? (sorry for all the questions but they just seem to keep coming)

I thought you were going to try stopping the valtrex?

if you are having symptoms frequently, you need to be seen and get a proper exam to have a better idea of what is going on.  it might not all be herpes related.

you do need to increase your dose during recurrences. your provider is incorrect about that information he gave you.

it's really helpful when you just keep adding to one post instead of making multiple new posts too. It's about you as a person, not each question - thanks!

it's well worth stopping it to see if it's contributing to your issues.  if it is, you'll feel markedly better within a week of stopping it.

it's well worth having a regular gyn when you have issues down yonder.

No. Honestly I am afraid to stop taking it. I have changed my bath soap and launder my undergarments in a mild natural detergent and it seems to have alleviated some of the symptoms. I don't have a regular gyn. I see my family doctor for everything. I am going to ask her for a referral or seek help at Planned Parenthood tomorrow. I will let you know how things work out.

I think I'd be going to your gyn at this point for all these issues.

did you try stopping the valtrex at all?

Thank you. Do I need to go to my primary provider or to a gyn?
