Valtrex prodrome symptoms and outbreaks

Is it possible to have constant prodrome symptoms? Since I've begun the Valtrex suppressant therapy 500mg per day I seem to be constantly tingling in my vaginal area, and it appears that I have a cold sore outbreak but inside the underside of my upper lip. I have never had that before :(. Could the stress of the diagnosis or start of the Valtrex have caused this? I thought the Valtrex was supposed to help alleviate outbreaks?
(I just received positive results for HSV1 and 2 last month. I have been on the suppressive about 28 days)

if symptoms go away once you stop it, I'd consider switching to acyclovir 400mg twice a day instead. some folks do better on the lower acyclovir levels you get in your body from acyclovir than they do the higher levels in valtrex.

If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex?
Thank you.

some folks do have odd reactions to valtrex. you can try stopping the medication for a week and see what happens.
