Thank u for your help i really apperciate it
Not much is known about hsv1 genital but we do know that after the initial infection, 40% had no recurrent outbreaks and 50% had 1 or 2 outbreaks then none. The remaining 5-10% were similar to hsv2. Bottom line is recurrent outbreaks for hsv1 genital are not common so you might reconsider being on suppressive meds. Most are for hsv 2 genital.
I did have a swab done too the blood test was done about 3 months later
Blood tests dont say where you have hsv1 and in most all cases its oral. What you need to do is have a sore swabbed within 48 hours to confirm if the genital sores are herpes. If you only took them in the beginning and stopped and have not had any outbreaks for like 8 months, you dont need to be on them unless your sexually active. But we really dont know if you have genital herpes.
Tell us about the sores.
I was diagnosed with a blood test
I only have hsv1 genital , i was on valtrex for the firs year then got off of it, no outbreaks until a month ago
Hi, normally those with many outbreaks take suppreseive. But if youve been taking them since your first outbreak, and youve only gotton one other now then they appear to be doing their job. Have you? Also how were you diagnosed for hsv1 genital?
