Thank you so much for your advice!
you have no reason at this point to think you have hsv1 genitally. I'd get to know your status so you and future partners can make educated decisions about what precautions to take together for sexual contact. if you don't have hsv1 already, you can contract it later on genitally .
If I do get these blood tests. They wouldn't tell me if I had hsv 1 orally or genitally correct? And you suggest I do this just in case I don't have it now but do contract it later?
glad you had your shots!
you should consider seeking out hsv1 igg blood testing at some point to know your status. you know you don't have hsv2 and I wouldn't assume that just because a lot of other family members have hsv1 that you do too.
Thank you so much for your replies! I really do appreciate your insight. Yes I did receive all three shots for gardisil.
yes bv can cause all these symptoms.
have you had your gardasil shots for hpv too?
I'm ashamed to say that I have not used protection. I also have not been tested to know my hsv 1 status. I'm almost positive I would have been exposed to it though as a child as all my siblings have had and do get cold sores as well as my mother. I am also aware that my partners can get hsv 2. Would the symptoms of bv be like this irritation on my vulva and around my anus?
odds are you had the bv the first time you were seen but since your provider chose not to test due to your period, they misdiagnosed you :(
not unusual at all for bv to come back and/or linger like this. treat it and it should get better in a week.
bv is also pretty common from receiving oral sex. do you have protected oral sex to protect yourself better ?
have you ever been tested for hsv1 to know your status? also be aware that your partners can have hsv2 genitally too - many lesbians first start out with male partners.
