How to keep herpes sores dry

It’s hard to keep herpes sores clean because they often leak the yellow gooey fluid. Who can help me to dry the sores out quickly. It's really uncomfortable

Try going without any bottoms when possible. (I realize it's winter in most places, and this is not always possible, but when you are home, put on a long shirt, no underwear, and let the air get to it. Sit in front of a fan if you can.)

Try tea tree oil. DILUTE IT until you get used to it or your crotch will burn like fire. Wet a cotton ball and add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to the cotton ball, then dab it on the affected area.

Definitely wear cotton underwear as Clover suggested, and if you can, avoid pantyhose/tights.

It's going to be uncomfortable for several days. Are you on any meds? How long have you had the sores?

Thank you for giving me some useful tips. I used to dilute tea tree oil with water before using, but it caused burning and redness and I had to stopped applying. As you suggested, I sometimes don't wear underwear at home to avoid irritation, but leaking fluid make me uncomfortable,. Also, I'm taking Valacyclovir for four days
Yeah, the tea tree oil can be harsh for sure.

Is this your initial outbreak? If so, you should be on valacyclovir 1 g orally twice a day for 10 days. If it's a recurrence, it's valacyclovir 500 mg orally twice a day for 3 days.

Unfortunately, it's going to suck for a bit. I wish I had magic words to change that. I promise it gets so much easier.

Take antiviral medications like Acyclovir and Valtrex can help. Some topical creams like Prosurx or Acyclovir are also effective in keeping herpes sores dry. Besides, you should wear cotton underwear  to avoid irritation. Immeditaely keep the sores clean and dry after taking bath by a soft cotton towel, and don't forget to wash the towel.
