What will change?

I've been in the relationship I'm now for just under a year. I was already planning to marry the woman I'm currently with at some point and was going to buy an engagement ring with the money I got from taxes... Anyways, Christmas day she gets a blister in her genital region (crude terminology, I know) goes to the doctor and the doctor told her that she may have HSV2. She had never shown signs before, and I, over the course of this relationship, have had unprotected sex. Literally a day after Christmas I develop a couple bumps, which I assume is HSV2 from my girlfriend. This doesn't change anything within my relationship persay, but if the results come back that she has it, and that I too have it, what all will change? The outbreaks every once in a while, I'm sure, but other than that, is there anything that will be life-altering or anything of that nature? thanks, just wondering

well yes if she's your only partner you've ever had your life then indeed it would've had to come from her.

when she gets her blood test results, if you can post them here, I can best help you with them - e.g. hsv1 igg 5.5 and hsv2 igg 4.9 or whatever they are.

if you both  have hsv2 will it make a big difference in your relationship? not really since transmission would not be a concern. if either of you start to have recurrences frequently, you can start suppressive therapy to keep recurrences few and far between too. when your partner becomes pregnant, she should stop in here for more advice then too :)

the free herpes handbook we recommend in our read before posting post is also very helpful for you both too if you haven't read it yet.

She is the only girl who I've ever had any sexual relations with of any kind, so that would mean that whatever she has is what I have, right? and she already got bloodwork sent out Friday and I believe her doctor said they might have the results monday

at this point, you both need to seek out type specific herpes igg blood testing this week to see who has what for starters.   testing you both now with blood testing will help you see who has what to give you a better idea of if herpes is even a possibility or not. odds are that neither of you have ever been tested before to know your status. just both of you call your clinics monday and ask them to order the testing done - no need for an appointment. even with the holiday, s hould be able to get the blood drawn monday and have results by the end of the week.

once you know for sure what you are dealing with, I will be able to better help you with the rest of your questions.
