Whitlow

What is a symptom of whitlow near the fingernail? I fingered a girl 4 weeks ago and after she told me she just contracted herpes week prior and had a outbreak when I fingered her. My fingernail/finger is showing no visable signs but where the fingernail meets the skin it is throbbing. I had no cuts on the hand is it possible to get fluids underneath the nail and trap it forcing it into the nerve endings? I fingered her hot and heavy for about 20 mins. Now my finger hurts near the nail weeks later. Please help if you can

At this point you should have a herpes test to confirm your status. Most often a sore would appear shortly there after esp if you negative now. Not much is known about this and i believe the last pulication about it was in 1983.

Lets say I had herpes touched the sore. Would whitlow appear within weeks after primary exposure or could herpes appear years later in whitlow?

Hi, in almost all cases Whitlow is acquired from a primary outbreak, meaning YOU had an outbreak, touched it and transferred it as the body has not yet developed antibodies. Very few studies have been on contracting whitlow but its rare.
Her having hsv2 genital is considered sexually transmitted in the genital area and if it possible to contract it on your finger if you have a open finger sore or cut, yes its possible but not likely.
