Worried; Intimacy with girlfriend when she had a cold sore

I received oral sex from my girlfriend who had a cold sore that has been healing (nearly healed), we didn't stop to think about this prior due to sexual excitement in the moment.  I went and washed immediately with soap and water afterwards upon realizing we had made a mistake, I also brushed and used Listerine. I'm not sure if I've ever had a cold sore before. I think I've only gotten canker sores in my mouth before. We've been together 3 months already and have had plenty of intimacy, but no issues. Should I go get checked for STDs? Should I stop being intimate with my girlfriend for the time being? I'm very afraid and I think I'm making myself sick. I feel like I'm thinking myself into feeling that I'm feeling something on my privates. I never knew that cold sores we're herpes, I thought that they were normal and so did she. She also has not been with anyone sexually in 5 years and gets a PAP Smear regularly.

I answered this for you already. You were at very little risk as the cold sore was well into the healing state. Yes cold sores are hsv but they are pretty normal as well over half the adult popopulation has hsv1. You are at a greater risk being in a relationship with someone who has hsv. I wpuld test for hsv just to see what your status is. Many people get it as children and don't know they have it.

Thank you again for your knowledge, it has put me at much more ease. I think me and my girlfriend are going to go together to get tested to make sure. I still can't shake this anxiety though and my girlfriend thinks that I'm being overly hard on myself. Thank you "feelingundone"
There is no reason to be hard on yourself. This is all very common and normal. You should just avoid contact when she has an active cold sore. That's it. Other than that resume the things that make you both happy.
