acyclovir

Hello,

does anyone know if 400mg of acyclovir daily is effective? I'm asking this because I had a blood test done on 2/12/2011 which came back equivical (sp) although my doc said that means negative but I'm scared that I may have gential herpes and don't want to risk having an outbreak or spreading it to my fiance. I plan to test again in April. Any advise is appreciated.

Equivicol does mean negative if enough time has passed since your last sexual encounter.  With a negative partner then he has nothing to transmit.

Grace-

Just for piece of mind because I read/heard that equivical does not always mean negative so I just need to know for sure.

Thanks you grace, but here is the reason I'm concerned: yeast or genitial herpes

by soooscared, Feb 10, 2011 12:34PM
I had a yeast infection over the last two weeks, the first week I was given diflucan but days later I went bac to the doc and she said i still had yeast. she then started me on a 3 day suppossitory with external itch cream which I used but I think the cream broke me out because that same night I felt a cut on my labia. which  brings me here, my concern was could I have herpes :( I went bac to my doc who said its prob from the yeast or from the cream but I'm not 100 comfortable with that so I went to planned parenthood who did a swab of the cut which was negative for herpes but  I still have the yeast! anybody know what could be going on?? I'm scheduled to get a herpes blood test tomorrow but I'm totally scaring the heck out of myself because from what I found on the internet, it could easily be herpes! please help!!!!

I posted this on 2/10

correct - he's negative and so are you so no reason to take acyclovir. You don't have any reason to think that you have genital herpes.

Thanks for the quick reply!

He has tested pos for hsv 1 neg for hsv 2. So you mean to tell me that I am taking the pills for nothing?? The 400mg isn't enough to help prevent anything :( ok, I guess I will stop taking them or should I take 2 pills a day? Just asking...

Thank You!

has your fiance been tested to know his status?
