antibodies

If an individual has had an hsv-2 outbreak, is it possible for them to test negative for the antibodies?

Yes, this is true of hsv1 and 2.

The newer blood tests we have today are very accurate, but no test is 100% accurate.

Perhaps if you tell us what exactly is going on, we can help you find ways to discuss this with your partner.

I also have a journal entry that is specifically about telling partners - http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/15788  or just click on my name to go to my profile, then click on journals.

this is both hsv-1 & hsv-2 correct?  Also, some of the research I have done reveals that not all testing is accurate?  How do I discuss this with my partner?

If they run a herpes test in that profile, yes.  They will be with you forever, as herpes never goes away.

Thanks!  The anitbodies stay with you for life, correct?  If there is no cure for herpes, then would the antibodies show in a STD profile?

If it was truly an hsv2 outbreak, then they will get antibodies.  This can take up to 4 months, though.

Genital herpes can be caused by type 1 as well as type 2.
