Kinda confused...

Hey there! I'm a 25 year old female and I had a few questions.

Last week I was experiencing vaginal irritation, assuming it was just another yeast infection. Well it did seem that i was having one since i had a white discharge as well.... but I took a mirror, just to check it out. Then i noticed a small bump on my labia minora. So I freaked and went to kaiser urgent care later that day. First thought was herpes, but second thought was maybe it was a wart. I have had high risk HPV in the past, so maybe it could have been that. Well the MD took a look and said that she thinks it could be herpes. She took the herpes swab test and also tested my discharge. All the tests came out negative, but she mentioned that the test could be a false-negative.

If it is truly negative. I dont know what else it could be?

If it is a false-negative...I have been with my bf for over a year, and I've never noticed any symptoms on him. As far as I know, I have never seen any kind of bumps like that on me before. Is it possible that it has just been dormant for so long and just now decided to come out. I do get cold sores about once or twice a year, I've been getting them since I was very young. Both my parents and my sister get them as well. I don't know if its possible if I infected myself. I've also had shingles a few years ago. I dont know if that would be related at all, but thought I would throw it in there.

I haven't talked to my bf about it yet, because I wasnt sure if it was herpes or not. I dont even know how I'm going to come about it with him.

sounds like it's time to talk about all this with your bf so you know in the future if you need to be concerned about herpes or not.

it's painless so odds are it isn't herpes going on.

Did the bump happen to look like a tastebud????
I'm asking because your story sound similar to mine! I had yeast and found a bump I ran to my md he said its def herpes, he swabbed it, it turned out negative!! Then I took a blood test and found that I was neg for hsv2!

By the way, the md did give me acyclovir right after my visit, before we got the test results. Ive been taking it 5 times a day. Didnt want to stop taking them, incase the test is wrong.

Yes the bump is painless, the md told me that some people dont experience pain.  There was some irritation, but it didnt seem to be only in that area, I have a yeast infection as well. So i dont know if the irritation was from the yeast infection.

As for the blood test, i havent had the herpes blood test in a couple years. I did have other std tests, but forgot to ask for the herpes blood test. Ive always been kind of paranoid about getting STIs, so i would get tested often.

Im kind of ashamed to say, I'm not sure if my bf was tested before we got intimate.

Thank you for your time, by the way.

high risk hpv doesn't cause genital warts.

shingles doesn't typically reoccur. if it did, it wouldn't reoccur as just one single lesion in the genital area.

did you and your bf have type specific herpes igg blood testing done as well as other std testing prior to becoming intimate?

you didn' t mention any pain or itching with this bump. is it painless for the most part?
