confused about the results

Herpeselct results: negative for hsv1 (index= .04) and positive for hsv2 ( index=3.3)
Western blot results from university of washington: positive for hsv2 and negative for hsv2.

Which test is valid?

Herpes Select is more accurate in telling the difference between the IgM and IgG when that specific test kit is used.  It looks like they only used a kit for types one and two.

IgG is the older version persay.  IgM is the antibody you have for the first month after infection and I believe after each outbreak.

Western Blot is losing validity.  If I remember correctly it doesn't easily disguish between types 1 and 2.

You can't be positive and negative for HSV2 from the same test.
