A few things to remember is that we don't really know what all causes outbreaks.  We have educated guesses as to what causes some of those things (stress, sun, etc) but nothing is for sure.

You may have had outbreaks and they be so mild you thought they were something else.  Don't feel bad it is how HSV is spread is by someone not knowing they have HSV and then spreading it.  Condoms are not as effective at preventing HSV.

The things that will help you in preventing the spread to your future husband is by getting on daily supressive therapy which will help reduce the number of outbreaks you have and also the time when the virus is "shedding" without symptoms.  Given that you don't have to give up sex. People who have HSV have an active and healthy sexual life.  The odds with you taking antivirals and avoiding sex during outbreaks is around 98% chance he WON'T catch it.  If I had those odds I would personally take the chance because the person I am with is worth it.  Plus honestly who cares.  HSV isn't life threanting and it is a skin condition.

You should consider working with a professional on the stress and helping you to relax.  This is something that can be hard to take but really when you got this doesn't matter.  Who had what and where won't change that you have HSV.  You have it so do a lot of people in the world.  If your partner doesn't want to be with you because of a microsopic thing then really is he who you will want when the time comes and the world is falling apart around you both?

I would suggest reading the herpes handbook found at http://www.westoverheights.com/ along with Terri Warren's book.

Feel free to continue to ask questions here.  We will gladly help you through this.

you are hsv1+. Most adults are whether they can recall a history of obvious cold sores or not.

your hsv2 is also +. It's above the typical false positive range.

has your bf been tested to know his own status?

Few questions:

1.  What was the results on?  Lab Work?  Culture?  What?

If this was labwork can your provide the test name and the values of the test.  If this was a type specific test it will be something like HSV1 igg 1.83 HSV2 igg 2.42.  Let us know.

If this is an IgM test it is flawed and shouldn't be used.  About half the adult population has HSV-1 (orally from those kisses from auntie back in the day).  Majority of us won't make it to the old folks home without it.

HSV testing is not mainly a part of routine STD testing.  You may have had this your whole life.
