I might go ahead and get that for my OB...I mean she is a great, nice lady, but If I didnt push the issue about retesting with her, I would be on Valtrex right now for something I dont have. So it makes me wonder how many other women were told the same thing...thank you xoxo
unfortunately many providers are not up to date on their herpes testing to be as aware of the false positive issues with the tests that they need to be.
for under $3 you can give your provider an early xmas present - http://www.ashastdwebstore.org/herpes-testing-toolkit.html it has all the info they need on herpes testing as well as info about confirming false positives :) Might want to be sure to highlight that part of the booklet before giving it to them.

thank you Grace and Petal, I did follow up on Terri's board...
I just cant believe that my OB or my hubby's GP didnt even offer anymore info on what a false-positive is, or even advice me to retest again. It was basicaly you have herpes and your husband doesnt ( after 20 years of unprotected sex) and the fact that my OB is telling me she wants me to retest in 3 months to see if I am a low true NEGATIVE then..its like she is not taking an equivocal test to be a NEGATIVE..she even told me to still treat things like if I was still POSITIVE. I feel that like me there must be many mis diagnosed cases in her office of women being negative cuz this OB didnt bother to tell them about fasle positve test ..But she was sure quick to wanna but me on meds...
you paid to ask this on Terri's board too so at this point, continue to follow up there on this and get your money's worth - thanks!

Logic dictates that your HSV2 test is a false positive, which does happen. You've never been with another man, and your husband is negative as well. So long as his test was done at least 3 months after his encounter with someone else, there's no way you could possibly have it.
Antibody level fluctuating mean nothing - you could test every day and every day it could be slightly different.
